Trade marks

Trade marks and service marks are an important category of industrial property, since they identify products of economic entities. A trade mark is a sign (word, letter, number, figurative element, 3D images) allowing to distinguish the goods and services of one company from those of another one.

Our agency provides assistance in obtaining protection for a trade mark or a service mark in the Republic of Slovenia and abroad. On behalf of our client we take all the necessary steps to obtain protection of a trade mark in Slovenia and abroad with national offices all over the world (USA, Africa, Asia…), within the European Union (the so-called Community Trademark) and to obtain registration of international trade marks under the Madrid Agreement and Protocol to the Madrid Agreement with WIPO.

Apart from securing protection of trade marks our agency also duly arranges for the maintenance of the rights, offers consultations in case of changes relating to the owner or the right itself. We can also prepare licence agreements and provide assistance in entering a lien right, file oppositions both in Slovenia and abroad, including oppositions before OHIM, conduct proceedings where decisions of patent offices are to be contested, and also offer assistance in case of infringement of trade marks, judicial protection of trade marks, customs procedures in case of infringement.

Our agency also deals with the protection of domain names as a new and well established identifier of business activities of legal entities on the Internet.
