Warning regarding false requests for payment of fees
W e have been contacted by numerous clients of ours with respect to requests for payment of various fees issued by suspicious institutions whose names are confusingly similar to the names of the offices that deal with intellectual property. We would like to warn you that you should refrain from paying in advance. If you receive such a request, please turn to us, or, if you are convinced that it is false, simply disregard it.
In most cases, these requests relate to procedures for registration and maintenance of industrial property rights (trade marks, designs, patents). You can read more about this topic on the website of the World Intellectual Property Organization and the European Patent Office where some examples of such requests are shown. Recently, there have been an increasing number of false requests in Slovenian, such as this one.
