Our story began back in 1953, when the Chamber of Commerce of the People's Republic of Slovenia established Patentna pisarna to offer services in relation to industrial property right protection (patents, trademarks and designs) and to mediation in the sale of domestic inventions and the purchase of inventions abroad. To this end, Patentna pisarna had already established cooperation of technical and legal experts in the field and made important connections abroad. During the period of the former Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), applicants filed their applications for industrial property right protection exclusively through Patentna pisarna, both with the Federal Patent Office in Belgrade and with other patent offices around the world. Patentna pisarna had thus already established itself in the SFRY as the main link in the provision of protection and counselling in the field of industrial property in the then Slovenia. After Slovenia's independence in 1991, Patentna pisarna has retained its identity as a proprietary company to the present day and has further strengthened its recognition both in Slovenia and beyond its borders.

Today, Patentna pisarna d.o.o. is the largest and most well-known intellectual property agency in Slovenia, representing many domestic and foreign clients in the enforcement of their rights and interests. It provides protection of industrial property rights to domestic and foreign clients before international offices (EPO, WIIPO, EUIPO) and national offices in cooperation with numerous patent attorneys worldwide. It employs top technical and legal experts who are members of various professional associations and international organisations such as epi, INTA, ECTA and achieves the highest quality ratings for its work in Slovenia and abroad.
